18-September-2012: Today it was Mendis day with Ajantha & Jeevan both. The Mendis show magic with the ball and bat continues. Ajantha Mendis bawl best with 4 overs 2 maidens 8 runs and 6 wickets. What a performance by him. It was good batting performance by Jeevan Mendis with 43 runs in 30 balls then he continues with 3 wickets. Sri Lanka won the match by 82 runs against Zimbabwe in the first match.
Zimbabwe won the match and elected to bowl
first. Sri Lankan batsmen scored good runs with 39 by T Dilshan, Sangakkara
with 44 runs and then J Mendis with 43 runs. They post 182 runs in 20 overs
with loss of 4 wickets.
Zimbabwe was not able to stay on the crease
with Ajantha Mendis had bowl in his hand. He was fabulous in this match. It was
one man show with just 8 runs given in 4 overs with 2 maidens and 6 wickets as
well. He is superbly bowled and Jeevan Mendis was addition with 3 wickets in 4
overs. They won by 82 runs.
Fact : Ajantha Mendis' 6 for 8 is the best bowling performancein Twenty20 internationals surpassing his own 6 for 16 against Australia in 2011. Mendis' figures are also the best ever in the World T20.
